Fawn's is welcoming two dachshunds into our foster program! Reminder, these dogs aren't available for adoption yet, please wait to apply until they're officially ready and listed on our site and adoption application.
These new foster dogs are from a breeder that closed down. They were shaved, prior to us receiving pictures, due to matting and overall condition.
Here's what we know based on their initial vet visits, they both:
Have ear infections
Have skin infections
Need dental work
Need vaccinations and monthly preventatives
Must be spayed or neutered
We are delighted to report that both dogs are both heartworm negative!
Their combined vet bills totaled $850 so far, which is fairly standard in these situations. Due to their condition, we're anticipating spending another $600-$900 per dog, each dog needs dental along with spaying/neutering. That cost is assuming there's no other health issues that come up.
We've been alerted by our network that there's another dachshund breeder shutting down, with four dogs that need placement. We need your help raising funds to get the vet care these dachshunds need!
Like many other non-profit rescues, the adoption donation for each dog only covers a fraction of the vetting and resources they receive while in our care. Additionally, we've had several other medical fosters with higher than average expenses:
Gus's colonoscopy plus prior care and tests
Addy's specialist eye care
Mr Darcy's allergy immunotherapy tests
Lucy's UTI and oral abscess
We cherish our time with our foster dogs, however several sensational seniors and medical fosters have been with us longer than expected. As a 100% foster based rescue, we can only accept new dogs into Fawn's when we have available foster families. As a non-profit organization we also need help ensuring we have the funds to cover the care of each dog!
