Matt has a charming wheaten colored coat and he's likely a Lhasa Apso and Poodle mix. He's just over 10 lbs and estimated to be 3-5 years old. He's neutered, heartworm negative, and up to date on his vaccines and monthly preventatives.
Matt made quite a splash on social media when he arrived at Fawn's due to his incredibly overgrown coat. With spring heating up, we knew we had to act fast and help him lose his "winter" coat. Thank you Debbie at Woodlawn Kennels for his grooming glow-up. Between his glow up and his vetting, he's ready for a new home!
Dogs like Matt we refer to as "diamonds in the ruff" - he's well socialized with a loving and playful temperament. He especially likes humans and doggie friends. In fact, he adores other dogs and he does well with kids and cats alike. His nature makes him a good candidate as a family dog. Given his size, he'll need respectful human siblings who are dog-savvy and old enough to understand that he's a friend and not a toy. Speaking of toys, Matt loves playing with toys almost as much as he loves playing with other dogs. He's currently fostered with 5 doggie siblings, most of them are larger than him, the biggest is a Border Collie. He enjoys playing with all of them! His new family should have at least one doggie sibling. Matt wants you to know that the more doggie siblings the merrier.
Matt is doing great with house, potty, and leash training. He'll happily go outside to go potty in the yard with his foster siblings or do his business on a leash. This means his fur-ever home doesn't require a yard, though he certainly enjoys playing with his doggies friends while outside.
Like many playful dogs, Matt isn't afraid to get a bit dirty. His particular breed mixes require regular grooming, generally every 6-8 weeks. His adopters must be ready for this expense or have the grooming skills to properly maintain Matt themselves.
Matt is ready for his new life with his fur-ever family. He needs adopters who're prepared for his grooming needs. His ideal home has at least one similarly sized doggie siblings, the more the better. He'd be happy to share his home with dog-savvy kids and cats. Since he's happy to do his business on a leash, he doesn't require a fenced yard.
