George is a 1 year old Jack Russell Terrier and Chihuahua mix. This handsome fellow is white with tan markings. He's neutered, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines and monthly preventatives.
George is an affectionate boy who bonds deeply with his people and truly wants to be close to them. He loves to be held and his foster reports that he's an excellent work from home companion. He'll happily accompany you around the house or relax nearby.
George has a gentle and submissive nature, he's also a total flopper. He came from home with 10 other dogs, his dad was his size and the rest were smaller dogs. George's Dad was the ringleader, the two of them would try to dig out of their yard with the rest happily following behind for an adventure. He's fostered with a dog who's larger than him and too rambunctious for his taste. He'd benefit from a home with confident, friendly, smaller dogs, especially when it comes to house and potty training!
George is treat motivated which is a plus for his house, potty, leash, and car training. He even behaves well for baths and other grooming. Like many young dogs he can be easily scared by loud noises or sudden movements, especially at night. For his safety and potty training success, he requires a securely fenced yard. Overall, George is making good progress in his training and he'll continue to thrive with patience, a consistent routine, and positive reinforcement.
As his confidence has grown, he's become a more playful companion, showing off the fun-loving side that comes with his breed mix. He's done excellent with respectful, dog-savvy children. Like most small dogs, he responds best to gentle, calm interactions with children. Now that he's adjusted to his human foster siblings, he's learned their school schedule and waits by the door for them to arrive. While he's a fairly calm boy, he jumps with joy at the door when he sees his human siblings come home!
George's fur-ever family must have patient people, committed to continuing his training and socialization. At 13 months, this gentle fellow is still a puppy in many ways, especially with potty training. He'd prefer a home where people are home often, if you're away frequently he'll need doggie siblings to keep him company. George has the temperament and qualities needed to be an exceptional family dog: affectionate, gentle, and loyal. All he needs now is the right family.
