Benz requires:

  • 1+ doggie siblings

  • A securely fenced yard

  • Patient adopters

Benz is a Schnauzer with a handsome gray coat. His birthday is June 2025 and he's about 15 lbs. He's neutered, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines and monthly preventatives.

Benz is a friendly and energetic boy! He loves his humans, especially kids, and other dogs of all sizes.

Benz was surrendered to us when his owner could no longer care for him. He was crated frequently when his owner was ill. He had several dog friends and enjoys the company of other dogs of all sizes. He requires at least one doggie siblings in his new home.

Benz adores play time! He plays great with his 90 lb lab mix foster sister. He's smart enough to moderate his play and his foster reports that he also plays well with other small dogs. Play time with friends is one way to help him use up his puppy energy, especially since he's still working on leash training.

Like any puppy, his adopters must ready to continue his house and potty training. He's made progress with his potty training and will follow other dogs outside to go potty in the yard. He still has accidents and his foster has him wear a belly band in the house. He's a flight risk so his new home needs a securely fenced yard to continue his potty training and keep him safe. He's a curious boy and like all puppies he must be supervised in the yard to ensure he doesn't get distracted and find a creative way out.

Benz is food and praise motivated, he's crazy for treats. He likes to have food available at all times, he does best if someone sits with him at meal times. He's been known to be bamboozled by his food bowl, he'll eat the food out of the center and think its empty. He needs a human to move the food back so he can continue to enjoy his meal.

Benz is ready for a fur-ever family of his own. He must have at least one doggie sibling who enjoys play time and can match his energy. He's rated for a home with respectful kids of all ages, he hasn't met any cats. He needs patient adopters who realize that at 1 years old he's still a puppy that needs consistent, positive training to ensure he becomes a good canine citizen. For his safety and potty training success, he needs a securely fenced yard.

Note: Our adoption application has a field where you can explain how you'll meet Benz's needs even if you don't meet every requirement. We're looking for capable adopters who can describe how they'll keep a new family member safe, continue house/potty training, etc. If you feel you have the experience to adopt Benz, we'd be happy to review an application from you.
