Annabelle is 5-6 years old, 32 lbs, and a Boston Terrier mix . She is spayed and up-to-date on vaccines and monthly preventatives. She is heartworm positive and doing great with her treatment.
Annabelle adores being an indoor dog! This wasn't always her life and it turns out that she loves lounging on soft things. She also delights in being part of the action—or inaction. She has a nice moderate energy level and is also world-class napper. She'll sleep in her crate next to her foster mom’s bed, which is cozy. Her dream is to cuddle with foster mom on the big bed, unfortunately her foster fur-sister isn't open to sharing... yet... When settling in for the night she carefully arranges her blanket just so, she does have a dainty snore (it's very ladylike, of course).
Annabelle is a delightful companion and adores a sunny yard. Her heartworm treatment means she is must focus on rest and relaxation. She enjoys short walks around the yard, the occasional trot, and snoozing in the sun. She's the perfect BFF for backyard sunbathing, gardening, and cookouts.
While Annabelle loves her yard, she dislike being left outside, especially alone. It reminds her of prior situation where she was left out for long periods of time. She is also such a sunny day enthusiast that sometimes she needs encouragement to go outside at night. If you go out with her, she'll happily follow to do her business no matter what time of day.
Annabelle is doing great with her potty training, which is helping her confidence. If she thinks you're upset at her, she may do a nervous tinkle, especially if someone raises their voice. As a dog who came from a less than ideal situation, we are delighted that she doesn't require bladder control medication, just love and patience. With her foster's encouragement she's been improving!
Annabelle has the heart of a puppy and the soul of a couch potato. She's one of the most lovable, sweet-faced fur babies you’ve ever seen. And a connoisseur of the finest belly rubs, snuggles, and treats! Her absolute favorite is snuggling up next to my person, getting ear scratches, and showing off her “happy tail.” It used to be tucked tight in fear, but now it’s practically a drumstick of joy.
She likes kibble, love wet food, and adore treats. Toys? She's still figuring those out, but is open to learning, especially if it means you'll spend time with her to teach her. She doing great with general training and has mastered a few commands. If there's quality time and snacks involved, she's game to try and will always do her best!
If looking for a loyal, loving, silly-sweet companion with a happy tail (it thumps with joy now!), Annabelle your girl. She's ready for a forever home full of kindness, comfort, and all the love she deserves. Annabelle's ideal home would have a fenced yard and loving adopters. She'd prefer to be an only dog, she has done well with other dogs when appropriately introduced. Given her size and background, she's rated for dog-savvy teens and adult only homes. To be safe, no cats, she has chased them in the past - that may have been due to food insecurity but we don't want to take the risk.
