About Summer::

  • Yard optional

  • Dog/cat friendly

  • Prefers small dog friends

Summer is around 10 years old and about 13 lbs. She's spayed, heartworm negative, and up to date on her prevention and vaccines.

When Summer first arrived in her foster home, she was very shy for the first three 3 days. After she decompressed, she adjusted quickly to her foster mom and similarly-sized fur siblings. She's a smart lady and acclimated beautifully to the household schedule. She particularly enjoys sleeping in the big bed with everyone.

Summer lived with a temporary foster family prior to arriving at Fawn's. That family had a large dog and noted that Summer had a mild case of "I'm in charge" syndrome. Summer had been moved from the only home she'd known and we believe her response was fear-driven as she was thrust into an unfamiliar situation and hadn't lived with a big dog before. Summer is currently fostered with other small dogs and cats. She's settled in nicely and we haven't seen any bossy behavior.

Summer's foster mom says she's a total sweetheart. She's always ready to give kisses and loves to snuggle with her humans. She's food motivated and delighted to trade tricks for treats. She enjoys being with her small pack of small dog friends and cats.

Best of all, Summer is doing great with house and potty training. This senior sweetheart will even go outside to potty in the rain! She's a good listener and has done very nicely with leash training. Since she's done well on a leash and she's a good listener, she doesn't require a fenced yard in her new home.

Summer is ready for her fur-ever home. She's cat friendly and good with other similarly sized dogs, no big dogs please. Her foster mom believes that Summer could happily be a solo dog, she'd love to have a lap to herself. She doesn't require a fenced yard in her new home, though she'd certainly enjoy one. Summer hasn't been tested with kids, due to her temperament it's likely that she'd be fine with respectful children.
