Peanut

Peanut is around 3 years, 12.5 lbs, and likely a Pomeranian (Spitz) mix. He is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines and monthly preventatives. He is heartworm positive and doing great with his treatment.

Peanut made quite a stir on social media before coming to Fawn's as a foster. He was abandoned in a crate on a street corner during one of the July heat waves. He was malnourished and in a very poor state, to say the least...

Peanut is not simply a surviver, he is a boy who is thriving. At 12.5 lbs, he needs to gain more weight.

Peanut is very puppy like, he has a ton of energy and loves to be loved. He is eager to please and loves quality time with his people. He's working on managing his impulsivity and reduce his jumping. He'll sit on command now. He does calm down when you pick him up or if you put him on your lap. He adores getting pets and scritches more than anything.  If you're looking for a dog who's always excited to see you, and excited for food, this jumping Peanut is the energizer bunny you need!

Peanut wants all of your attention and has no problem moving in front of his foster doggie siblings to get it. He can be jealous and make a fuss if he feels neglected, this is not uncommon for dogs with traumatic backgrounds. He has shown while taking a crate break that he will be destructive in his distress. This can happen when dogs view love as a limited resource. This is something his adopter needs to be proactive with, dogs like Peanut often need training as well as time to understand that there's enough love to go around. Peanut loves playing and enjoys other dogs, he would do well with one doggie sibling in his future home to guide him and help him be a confident, wonderful dog.

Puppy-like Peanut is an absolute catch. He's doing great with house and potty training. He adores his foster's grandchildren and has met and done well with cats. Given his size and desire for attention, we'd recommend his new home have older dog-savvy children. Kids who are old enough to play with him that he does not view as competition for affection. While Peanut loves to play, he would do best in a home with one doggie sibling or as a solo dog. His ideal home includes a yard to enjoy, however, it's not a requirement.
