Lucy

Lucy is 14 years old, her birthday is Aug 24th! She is a 6 lb Chihuahua. She is spayed, heartworm negative, and up to date on vaccines and monthly preventatives.

Lady Lucy's preferences:

  • Ladies preferred

  • Homebodies and retirees

  • Adult only home

Lady Lucy was a companion dog her entire life. She lived with her people, as well as another larger dog. Lucy selected her momma as her primary companion, she was well socialized and able to join on errands and every day life. She does amazing at the vet, except for nail trims, she must be muzzled.

Lucy arrived with a UTI and dental infection, she had antibiotics and dental done. Lucy is feeling so much better that she recently showed her foster parents that she knows sit and shake - for high value treats only! She has near daily zoomies, especially when it's meal time! When she thought foster mom wasn't looking, she even played with a soft toy. She also has decided that foster mom's friends are all right, she was spotted snuggling a guest and she even leaned in to ask for neck scritches. It's truly a joy to see.

While Lucy has become more comfortable, she has also shown separation anxiety when her fosters are away. As a dog who was a prior 24/7 companion and errand buddy, she hates being left at home. She will sing you the song of her people, loudly, and has no problem providing several encores over the duration of her separation...

While Lucy has shown herself to be a girls girl, she's fine if her lady friend is a part of a couple. Ideally her person is home most of the day or their life style allows them to take Lucy with them. Lucy is actually a very well socialized dog, she does prefer adults. When she met children, she simply removed herself from reach and ignored them. Lucy has lived with dogs of all sizes, she could live with a respectful canine companion. Her foster has seen her ignore the neighborhood cats and believe that she'd do fine in a house with a cat.
