Adoption Date: 09/12/2025

Welcome Date: 06/30/2025

Mr Darcy

Mr Darcy's 9 years old, around 10 lbs, and is a Maltese mix. He is neutered, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines and monthly preventatives.

Medical note:

  • Severe allergies

  • Heart murmur

You may remember seeing Mr Darcy on social media. Prior to his surrender to Fawn's, he was found in the middle of the street with a cone on, and a bloodied back. A trip to ER vet revealed his open wounds were from itching! An allergy immunotherapy blood test revealed that this distinguished gentleman has 18+ allergies. It took some time to get his allergies and itching under control, they are now managed with daily Apoquel and a raw food diet. We are delighted to say his itching has stopped and his skin and fur are healing beautifully!

Along with his allergies, Mr Darcy has a grade 4 out of 5 heart murmur. You wouldn't know it from his puppy like energy, in fact he has no symptoms or restrictions on his activity. He takes a once daily medication in his food that he happily gobbles up. He defies his medical and age expectations energy level wise, his foster says he's moderate to high energy. Sometimes he misuses his energy to chase squirrels and has even attempted to chase an outdoor cat.

Mr Darcy's ideal home is with social adopters who enjoy walks and adventures. He'd do best with people who understand that some energetic small dogs want their humans to themselves while at home but love to go play dates and dog park adventures to socialize.  He's still working on his leash training and would do best in a home with a securely fenced yard. While he's been polite to the children that he's met, his ideal home is child, cat, and small animal free.

Most importantly, Mr Darcy needs people who can commit to continuing his medications and raw die.
