Lia is a fawn/white Chihuahua mix. She's around 9 years old and 12 lbs. She's spayed, heartworm
negative, and up-to-date on vaccines and monthly preventatives.
Lia is an affectionate and independent lady. When she first arrived she preferred to supervise her new humans closely. Now that she's settled in, she much enjoys being nearby but prefers independent activities and enjoys playing with her foster siblings. During her first week, she insisted on sleeping in the big bed, now she much prefers her own bed - in the same room as her humans, of course.
When Lia arrived she was nervous and under-socialized, especially with other dogs. She initially showed some anxiety, likely transition related. Like many a Chi-mix before her, she has picks a preferred human and has some resource guarding tendencies, especially when it comes to cuddling on the couch. With love and time from her foster humans and her foster dog siblings, Lia is thriving with her little pack and family. Her new home can have dog-savvy kids 8+ years and older.
Lia is now a toy and playtime enthusiast - she's even started to play fetch! She adores other dogs of all sizes and she's particularly bonded with her Labrador foster sibling. She also enjoys her foster Chihuahua sister. Her new home must have one or more other dogs to continue her socializing success.
Lia's doing great with house and potty training. Her new home doesn't require a yard, since she'll go potty on a leash. She does enjoy spending time outside with her person, she particularly likes sunbathing.
Lia arrived at Fawn's quite robust. Her foster lovingly describes her as "potato shaped" - thankfully
she enjoys going on walks and does well on a leash. She also recently tried and liked cucumber, which is a great alternative treat for her.
Lia's ideal home must include one or more playful dogs to reduce her anxiety and continue her socializing success. She prefers people who are home often who can take her on walks or take her sunbathing in the park or a yard. She can live with respectful, dog-savvy kids 8+ years or older. Lia does well on a leash and doesn't require a fenced yard. Upon arrival, we were told that Lia doesn't like cats.
